Devon Wylie is an intriguing WR prospect and has drawn comparisons to Wes Welker.
I’ve confirmed that 15 NFL teams attended Fresno State’s Pro Day on Wednesday, March 28th. The following teams were in Fresno to observe the Bulldogs talent – the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The prospect that scouts were anxious to get a closer look at on Wednesday was wide receiver Devon Wylie. The 5-foot-9, 187-pound Wylie impressed scouts with his athleticism, route running and speed at the Scouting Combine last month, where he ran a 4.39 in the 40 and generated a 39-inch vertical and a 10’3” broad jump. Wylie also displayed surprising strength on the bench press by completing 17 reps.
On Wednesday, Wylie participated in the 3-cone drill and the shuttle, but stood on the rest of the numbers he produced at the Combine. Wylie went through a lot of individual work at the Bulldogs Pro Day; he ran routes, caught balls and also fielded punts. Conducting a majority of Wylie's drills was Lions wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson.
Currently, Wylie is projected to be a 3rd – 4th round pick next month.
Other than Wylie, Fresno State has two prospects that could emerge as late-round selections, defensive tackle Logan Harrell and offensive tackle Bryce Harris.
